This zine is a collection of photographs I’ve taken around Los Angeles over the years, an attempt to capture the city’s eclectic and fragmented nature.

The sense of disconnect I feel living in Los Angeles extends to the people I photograph. I’m drawn to those who feel alienated—people sitting or eating alone, children blissfully unaware of what life eventually becomes, and transients stepping off buses from small towns to chase something bigger. Los Angeles was built as an oasis for ambition, but it has slowly become a quagmire, a place where desperation turns people against one another, like crabs in a barrel.

I see this as an ongoing series, in conversation with what Daido Moriyama sought to capture in his own city.
